Blackout Weekend 101 – Things to Do
Lake Tahoe is famous for its winter activities like skiing, tubing, and snowboarding. Yes, yes, we know this. But this week we’re filling you in on all the things to do outside of Blackout Weekend organized events. So, if you’re a natural-born explorer, this post is for you!
1. Ice Skating – You thought we were getting away from winter activities? We will shortly, but if you’re interested in imagining you’re a top figure skater in the Winter Olympics or simply into a bit of fun, lace up those skates and hit the rink.
Ice skating is available at Heavenly Village from 10am – 8pm starting at $20 per person.
2. Snowmobiling & Tubing – Four wheelers are to land, as Jet-skiing is to water, as snowmobiling is to snow, so why not give it a go! Seriously, check out some of the local snowmobiling that South Lake Tahoe has to offer.
Tahoe Snowmobile Track & Tubing Hills - Located at 55 U.S. Highway 50, just across from Bally’s Lake Tahoe, this facility offers a groomed tubing hill suitable for all ages. Sessions are typically one hour long, and reservations are recommended. Please note that parking is limited; walking from nearby accommodations is advisable. Lake Tahoe Adventures Tubing at Heavenly Mountain - Accessible via the Heavenly Gondola, the resort features a tubing hill near the Tamarack Lodge. The hill offers multiple lanes over 500 feet in length with a 65-foot vertical drop, providing an exhilarating experience. Tickets can be purchased at the Heavenly Village Gondola base.
3. Spa Day – Not all trips have to be filled with itinerary and busy, busy, busy. Take a break and get a massage, sip some wine, and relax. Find the spa that best suits your needs and drift off into bliss.
4. Eat – It’s vacation, so besides the required eating to make it through the day and to sober you up after a day/night of drinking, check out some of the restaurants Lake Tahoe has to offer and treat yourself to a nice meal.
5. Visit Heavenly Village – Steps away from Harrah’s and Harveys is the notable Heavenly Village. Filled with shops, restaurants, and culture, spending a day here will fly by!
6. Casino – Harrah’s and Harveys both have casinos in their respective hotels. Try your luck or test your skill and head down to the casino.
7. Gondola Ride – The Gondola ride is not only for skiers. Feel free to take a ride on the Gondola and get a glimpse of Lake Tahoe that you can only see hundreds of feet in the air.
Get Discount tickets from Blackout while available
8. Brewery Hop – South Lake Tahoe has a multitude of breweries. If you’re interested in trying the best beers Lake Tahoe has to offer, make a day of it!
